Project Description
Located in a Pyrmont office tenancy overlooking Sydney Harbour, the new headquarters for Blue Post Productions is a thoughtfully designed environment that supports the creative precision and collaborative nature of this leading post-production company. Designed by Jost Architects, the 625m² fitout transforms a conventional commercial space into a high-performance studio with a warm, tactile aesthetic.
The design emerged from a close collaboration between architect and client, guided by a clear creative vision, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of Blue Post’s unique operational needs. The result is a technically refined, visually engaging workspace that is both functional and enjoyable to occupy.
A key move in the reconfiguration involved transforming a large, open-plan area into a series of acoustically treated suites for editing, grading, and visual effects. These spaces are complemented by a number of private offices, all tailored to meet demanding technical specifications while offering a high level of finish. Feedback from both staff and clients has highlighted the comfort and quality of the working environment, which stands apart from typical industry offerings.
Every room was carefully planned to accommodate equipment and furniture requirements without compromise. A central corridor provides clarity and legibility to the plan, avoiding the disconnected feel often associated with internalised fitouts. Where possible, rooms are oriented to capture natural light and views of the harbour, enhancing the sense of openness and connection to place.
At the heart of the studio is a cinema-style colour grading theatre featuring plush seating and integrated lighting—an immersive space for collaboration and client engagement. A generous kitchen and breakout area provides a calm, informal setting that supports team interaction.
The completed fitout not only enhances day-to-day operations, but has made the office a place staff genuinely enjoy. It has also increased occupancy by visiting clients, who are drawn to the quality of both the technical facilities and the overall experience.
Materials and Finishes
Finishes were selected to reflect the site’s natural context: green carpet references nearby parkland and visible tree canopies, while timber panelling, rendered concrete, and mirrored walls bring warmth, depth and contrast. The mirrored surfaces, in particular, extend sightlines and draw the outdoors into the space.
